Why We Created Ninety
Ninety exists because we got tired of feeling lost. My son is a junior playing MLS NEXT, and when we started looking into college soccer recruiting, nobody handed us a map. We figured it out the hard way — and then built the tool we wished we’d had from day one.
We Didn’t Know What We Didn’t Know
Here’s the thing nobody tells you: being a good player is only half of it. The other half is a process. Emails, timelines, ID camps, knowing which coaches to contact and when, understanding what a coach actually wants to see. In my opinion, we had a talented kid and almost no clue how to get him in front of the right people.
So we did what a lot of families do. We went looking for help.
The $4,250 Wake-Up Call
We found a recruiting agency and hopped on a call. They were friendly. They were polished. And for about 45 minutes, they told us everything we already knew — that recruiting starts early, that highlight videos matter, that you have to reach out to coaches yourself.
Then they spread a little guilt in there. “You should’ve started in 8th grade. That’s okay, though, there’s still time.”
Then came the pitch: $1,500 upfront. $4,250 total. No guarantees.
That number stuck with me. Not because we couldn’t find a way to make it work (for that number, we didn’t want to make it work), but because of what it represented — families paying thousands of dollars for information and effort they could absolutely handle themselves, if someone just gave them the right tools and a clear path.
That was the moment Ninety started.
We Built It As We Lived It
Ninety didn’t show up fully formed. It grew alongside our own recruiting journey, one frustration at a time.
Take the Email Assistant. Early on, we had no idea what made a coach actually open and reply to a message. So we tested. We learned what worked — the subject lines, the right length, the details coaches care about, the stuff that gets ignored. Every lesson went back into teaching the AI to write more unique and effective emails. Now it helps you write emails that sound like you and actually get responses. Not just boring ChatGPT stuff.
The College Database was the same story. We kept hitting walls trying to find real, useful information — who the coaches are, how to reach them, what kind of program and school each one actually is. So we built a database and kept making it richer: contact info, program details, and the academic and fit data that helps you build a smart target list instead of a guessing game.
Every feature in Ninety exists because we needed it ourselves.
A Tool, Not a Middleman
We’re not an agency. We’re not going to charge you four grand to tell you things you already know. Ninety is built on a simple belief: the recruiting process belongs to the player and the family — you just need the right tools to own it.
That means coach contacts, modern player profiles, an Email Assistant, an ID camp finder, a recruiting timeline, and a recruiting board. Everything in one place, built by a family that’s actually in it.
Where We’re Headed
My son’s still a rising senior. We’re still living this. And that’s kind of the point — Ninety keeps getting better because we’re still using it, still learning, still in the trenches with every other family trying to figure this out.
If you’re a high school player or a parent staring down the recruiting process and wondering where to even start, we built Ninety for you. Come see what it can do at go90.io — and skip the $4,250 call.
